RIGGING
Our thorough Rigging training consists
of 10 modules that covers every aspect of rigging.
Fall protection module
includes hang time at the training center and covers the proper use
of harnesses and wire rope ladders, harness fitting, vertical and
horizontal fall arrest systems, equipment inspection and safety.
The Aerial Lift module is a hands
on training covering safety inspection and proper operation of the
three main lifts used by riggers; Boom Lift, Scissor Lift and Man
Lift.
Tradeshow Sign Hanging module topics
include characteristics and application of light rigging hardware,
types of banners and signs, attachment and integrity.
Nicopress module covers various termination
hardware such as Nicopress and Crosby. A table display of how not
to assemble hardware is available for trainee inspection. Slings
are assembled in class and taken to a nearby testing facility to
validate classroom study.
Ground Rigger module covers all facets
of ground operation including floor layout, rigging hardware recognition
and ratings, ropes and knots, hoist operation, truss specifications
as well as electrical power requirements and distribution.
Facility
Rigging Policies and Procedures module
covers load values, application techniques, safety and security
issues focusing on protecting the facilities that we work within.
This module also includes a virtual walk through of the facilities
(Anaheim, Los Angeles, San Diego, Long Beach and Ontario Convention
Centers as well as the Pomona Fair Grounds) utilizing digital photographs
of the framework used by the riggers.
Advanced Hoist Operation module covers
how hoists work, it's power phase and requirements, responsibility
assignments and the various types of hoist operations and safety.
Load Calculations module focuses
on the distribution of loads on the truss and the ceiling, the effects
on the truss and the load at the various truss positions as well
as truss and ceiling specification review. The rigging instructor
demonstrates various loads on truss with dynamometers in place to
see the affects on the truss.
Topics of the Ground Support Systems module includes instructional and hands-on construction of both static
and dynamic ground systems, it's lockout requirements, safety concerns
and manufacturer's requirements for base support.
ESTA Technician
Program module is
currently under development and will include a multi-session program
to allow for the successful completion of the ESTA Rigger Technician
test.
